Revontulet
"Revontulet" is an Alto Sax piece inspired by the beauty of the Northern Lights.
“Revontulet” was written in 24 hours and premiered at the 2025 24|24 concert with the UNT Composer’s Forum. This piece is for solo Alto Saxophone.
“Revontulet” is named after the Finnish word for the Aurora Borealis. In Finnish folklore, the Northern Lights came to be when a little fox ran so fast through the snow that its tail created a spark, which lit the sky on fire. The word revontulet translates to fox fires, in honor of the fabled cause of this beautiful natural phenomena. In this piece, I have tried to embody both the playfulness of a little fox, and the majesty of the Aurora Borealis.
